THE HEP CATS FEATURED
ON THE COVER OF ROUTE 66 MAGAZINE
Blue Heron International Pictures recently announced that a very special group of musicians appeared on the cover of the spring issue of ROUTE 66 magazine.
The Hep Cats, known throughout Europe as the masters of Doo-Wop, recently added the iconic road song to their musical repertoire.
Gary Lester created the cover design for the magazine, while Richard Lester penned the feature article. http://www.route66magazine.com
“The Hep Cats have now arrived on the American music scene. The spring issue of ROUTE 66 magazine puts them on news-stands coast to coast and all along the old Route 66 highway,” said Richard.
“The entire world can check out the magazine’s website and see The Hep Cats featured on the cover."
"The Hep Cats draw huge audiences in Germany,” said Lester. “It is not unusual for their concerts to pack in 5,000 people. They are definitely getting their kicks on Route 66!”
“Roberto Stemmer, the lead singer, frequently ends up signing around 500 autographs before rushing off stage and leaving the building – just like Elvis!”
Roberto's cat, Mrs. Einstein, appears in OUR FOREVER FRIENDS.
In addition to Roberto, The Hep Cats feature Markus Hager (guitar), Alexander Kappicht (drums), and Grischa Winter (upright bass).
Congratulations to the rockin’ Hep Cats and to Route 66 Magazine for a great cover and feature article!
BLUE HERON PRODUCER PUBLISHES COOKBOOK
Blue Heron International Pictures recently announced that Amber Lester has published a new cookbook which is already drawing rave reviews internationally.
A Taste To Remember is a 60 page collection of recipes gathered from family and friends and produced in a glossy magazine format by Blurb, Inc. in San Francisco.
Copies of the book are now available at the company website for $11.99. However, an electronic version is available from the publisher on the internet for $2.99.
“The book was published on Monday, and was picked up by Pinterest within an hour,” said Blue Heron executive producer (and Dad), Richard Lester.
“Pinterest has hundreds of thousands of followers, so that was really awesome.”
The best was yet to come.
The publisher also submitted Amber’s cookbook to Apple for consideration. Apple’s vetting process usually takes two weeks.
Within 24 hours, Amber heard from Apple. Her cookbook has been accepted for distribution.
Less than a week after publication, A Taste To Remember is now available on Apple’s i-phone, i-Pad, i-Pod Touch, and through i-Tunes directly to computers.
“Apple has extended the potential market for Amber’s book to tens of millions of Apple-users worldwide,” said Richard Lester. “Believe it or not, you can read her cookbook on your Apple i-Phone.”
Apple describes the book as, “A visually rich collection of recipes from friends and family, lovingly compiled.”
The book features favorite recipes from grandparents and friends around the world.
“Amber is always doing amazing things,” said Lester. “She prefers to avoid the spotlight. This time, however, it is just not possible to ignore what she has done.”
International feedback came within 24 hours. Roberto Stemmer, lead singer of Germany’s famous Doo-Wop band (The Hep Cats), wrote:
I am absolutely convinced that everyone who buys this book will think about a beloved person while cooking one of the recipes.
How often do we say, "My Mother or my Grandmother has always cooked this?"
We remember them in this special moment.
Cookbook writer Amber Lester has also produced the Acts of Kindness Awards presentations for Blue Heron, and appeared with former child star Beverly Washburn (Old Yeller) in the company’s most recent animal documentary, Our Forever Friends.

ACTS OF KINDNESS AWARDS
Kielee Winters, recipient of the first Beverly Washburn Acts of Kindness Award
The Blue Heron Acts of Kindness special event for 2013 was a heart-warming success. Many members of the audience shed tears of joy, as local heroes were publicly honored for their deeds of heroism and kindness.

The event took place in front of a full house at Cinematique Theatre in Daytona Beach, Florida in May, 2013.
Following a screening of two films by award-winning director Gary Lester (Deliver Us From Evil and Our Forever Friends), event producer Amber Lester called a number of very special people up to the stage for praise and recognition.
“It will be an event we will long remember and cherish in our hearts,” said Amber, who herself received the Blue Heron Heroism Award.
In February, 2013, she saved the life of an elderly man who had fallen into a retention pond and became disoriented, struggling in water up to his neck.
Amber jumped in the retention pond and pulled the man to safety before fire-rescue arrived on the scene.
Another hero receiving a number of awards was five year old Kielee Winters.
Kielee organized a lemonade stand fund-raiser for her three-year-old friend with cancer. She raised enough money for a chemotherapy treatment.
Her story resulted in enough donations at the awards event to pay for hundreds of dollars of additional medical expenses facing her little friend's family.

Claire was given up by her parents during the Holocaust (at Kielee’s age) to go into hiding with neighbors. She too knows the meaning of heroism and kindness.
Child super-star Beverly Washburn also sent personal letters to Kielee and her friend, as well as a gift card and autographed photos from Old Yeller.
Florence Thuot -- founder of Journey’s End Animal Sanctuary – was also recognized for making a difference in the lives of hundreds of unwanted, elderly, and handicapped animals.
Florence is the recipient of the Dot Carlson Humanitarian Award from Blue Heron. Her work is featured in Our Forever Friends.
OUR FOREVER FRIENDS
A Love Story
Compassion for animals is intimately connected with goodness of character; and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man.
Our Forever Friends had its world premiere with an SRO audience at the Cinematique Theatre in Daytona Beach on January 26, 2013.
It is currently on the national film festival circuit.
“We were extremely pleased to be able to debut our very first feature length documentary in a venue like Cinematique, which is so supportive of high quality independent films,” said director Gary Lester.
“We premiered our Safe Haven documentary a few years ago at the historic Hotel Roosevelt in Hollywood, and that was pretty exciting also.
However, Cinematique offered the perfect ambiance for a movie proving that true love lives on four legs.”

Beverly Washburn, television’s first child star, appears in Our Forever Friends.
“Beverly was the guest star on almost all of the classic television shows from the 1950’s and 1960’s,” said Gary Lester. "Of course her iconic movie role was as Lisbeth in Walt Disney's classic film, Old Yeller."
“Not only is Beverly one of America’s most beloved actresses, but she also happens to be a life-long animal lover. She treats her own rescued animals as treasured family members."
" Beverly knows the true meaning of a forever friend.”
Appearing with Beverly Washburn is PBS television celebrity Charlie Carlson, along with his boxer co-host and forever friend from the Weird Florida TV series.
"We have a real crowd-pleaser with this one, " said Lester.

NOW AVAILABLE ON DVD
While Blue Heron International Pictures is best known for its animal documentaries, the company is sometimes willing to assist in films about fictional animals who may not quite as lovable as the real ones -- such as the fiendish killer cats in the upcoming Spanish production of Corpse-Grinders 3.
One of the executive producers is none other than the iconic Ted V. Mikels, who owns the franchise.
Executive producer and screen-writer Marc Gras in Barcelona contracted with Blue Heron's award-winning director Gary Lester to film the scenes which occur in the United States.
Legendary Godfather star, Johnny Martino, plays a mobster named Gualtieri in the second unit Florida scenes.
Another veteran Hollywood actor and the film's associate producer, Richard Lester (Silverado), doubles as Gualtieri's bodyguard.
Corpse-Grinders 3 is the latest movie from Tyrannosaurus Entertainment, headquartered in Barcelona Spain.
